THE HAND MEMORY

چکیده

Traces of ancient gestures are recalled and re-interpreted in an artistic way. Prehistoric chipped stone artefacts: preserve techniques, gestures, sounds memories. Maybe stories. Just like a book or musical score. We can reconstruct these artefacts use them to verify their function.

Eye and hand movements during reconstruction of spatial memory.

Recent behavioural and biological evidence indicates common mechanisms serving working memory and attention (e.g., Awh et al, 2006 Neuroscience 139 201-208). This study explored the role of spatial attention and visual search in an adapted Corsi spatial memory task. Eye movements and touch responses were recorded from participants who recalled locations (signalled by colour or shape change) fro...

Application of a shape memory alloy to hand splinting.

This paper describes new passive splints which have been developed using a shape memory alloy. The peculiar feature of the splints is that the way in which they change shape in use conforms to the stretching motion which it would be desirable to apply in certain conditions of deformity. The alloy consists of 55.66% by weight Nickel and 44.34% Titanium. The heat treatment of the alloy for memori...

Development of a Shape Memory Alloy Actuated Robotic Hand

This paper presents the ideology of this research, which is to utilize advanced actuators to design and develop innovative, lightweight, powerful, compact, and dexterous robotic technology. The key to satisfying these objectives is the use of advanced or smart materials, such as Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) to power the joints of a prosthetic hand, and other dexterous robotic hands. The mechanica...

Drawing from Memory: Hand-Eye Coordination at Multiple Scales

Eyes move to gather visual information for the purpose of guiding behavior. This guidance takes the form of perceptual-motor interactions on short timescales for behaviors like locomotion and hand-eye coordination. More complex behaviors require perceptual-motor interactions on longer timescales mediated by memory, such as navigation, or designing and building artifacts. In the present study, t...

Memory for Hand-Use Depends on Consistency of Handedness

Individuals who do not consistently use the same hand to perform unimanual tasks (inconsistent-handed) outperform consistent right- and left-handed individuals on tests of episodic memory. We explored whether the inconsistent-hander (ICH) memory advantage extends to memory for unimanual hand use itself. Are ICHs better able to remember which hand they used to perform actions? Opposing predictio...
